Broad Jump

One of the most basic moves in parkour, the broad jump is a simple, powerful, and finesse jump. Like just about everything in parkour or free running, the move requires strength, balance, and control. I found this image and thought it shows the breakdown of the jump perfectly. The form looks good, but if I were to change something it would be the spring in his takeoff. While it all depends on preference, the angle his knees make is, in my mind, a fraction too acute. I think he could gain more distance with a shorter, quicker burst of power. Very cool picture nonetheless...

Only a Matter of Time...

Boston just got wrecked with 5 inches of wet, slick snow so it looks like the outdoor action is gonna be delayed. I'm a senior in high school with some extra time on my hands so it looks like I'm going to try to create a Parkour Team. Parkour and free running are mainly individual sports but I think I could throw in a team aspect to it to add to the progressive nature of the sport. What do any of you think about a Team? Any suggestions or comments?

Well, that about covers it for today... the countdown to spring continues...
